Cinnamon turn-overs (Wentelteefjes)

 Traditional recipe from The Netherlands

  • 8 slices of stale bread
  • 1 tbsp of ground cinnamon
  • sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup of milk
  • salt
  • butter or margarine to fry

Take the crusts off the bread.

Stir cinnamon and sugar together. Add the beaten egg, milk and a pinch of salt.

Soak the bread slices in this mixture and fry them slowly in butter on both sides.

Sprinkle with sugar before serving.
